The Hills Hornets referees have returned from the NSWTA Junior State Cup – Southern Conference in Wagga Wagga with plenty to be proud of after a hugely successful three-day tournament.

Ten Hills referees were selected to officiate across the event, collectively officiating an outstanding 126 matches. From early morning round games through to high-pressure finals, the group demonstrated consistency, confidence and composure throughout the weekend.

A major highlight of the tournament was five Hills referees earning grand final appointments – a fantastic achievement and a clear reflection of the quality within the program. Grand final selections are a strong endorsement from the experienced referee panel, recognising officials who perform consistently and confidently across the entire weekend.

Congratulations to Micah Rodgers (14B), Elly Wehrle (14G), Jackson Lamont (12B), Jess Loring(12G) and Tara Roche (12G) on their well-deserved appointments.

The event was also significant for four referees who were attending their first Junior State Cup. Being selected for debut at a tournament of this level reflects the steady progress they have made and the confidence Hills Hornets has in their development.

Now in its sixth year, the Hills Hornets Referee Development Program continues to deliver strong results. With a clear focus on mentoring, coaching and providing genuine pathways, the program is building both depth and experience across its referee ranks.

To have ten referees represent Hills at JSC is an outstanding achievement. To see five appointed to grand finals while four made their JSC debut highlights the strength of the program and the positive direction it continues to take.
