During the month of September each year, Australia’s best under 18 touch footballers come together to compete in the National Youth Championships.

NSW sends the following teams:

  • NSW Combined Catholic Colleges (NSWCCC)
  • NSW Combines High Schools (NSWCHS)
  • NSW Combined Independent Schools (NSWCIS)
  • NSW Touch Association Development Squad (NSWTA)

This year the Hills Hornets made their mark, with a number of Hornets players winning selection.

  • Keely Bowen (NSWCCC)
  • Joshua Rizk (NSWCCC)
  • Flynn Angles-Corke (NSWCIS)
  • Travis Osbourne (NSWCIS)
  • Ryan Pritchard (NSWTA)
  • Ray Wehbe (NSWTA)
  • Bella Duncan (NSWTA)

In addition to the playing talent, the Hornets got to show off their coaching talent and advisers with the following coaches and mentors being picked for the hotly contested roles:

  • Mel Mitchell (NSWCHS)
  • Yass Sidaris (NSWCIS)
  • Dave Nolan (NSWTA)
  • Jackson Mills (NSWTA)

It is a fantastic achievement to win selection in such a prestigious competition, and we wish all our players and coaches the very best of luck as they look to take on the dominant Queenslanders.

Having so many individuals flying the Hornets flag is a proud moment for the club.  But this is just the start – as Hornets continue to go from strength to strength, expect to see these number grow even more next year. It might just be the secret to bringing down the Queenslanders.
