Lucinda Wehrle was appointed as the Referee Coordinator for the Hills Hornets in 2020. Since taking on the role, she has been instrumental in transforming the club’s officiating culture, overseeing a period of rapid growth and high-performance development for the “Hornets Referee Swarm”.
Key Responsibilities & Leadership
- Referee Development: Lucinda is responsible for the end-to-end development of referees at Hills, from recruiting new officials to mentoring those at elite levels.
- Strategic Allocation: She coordinates referee assignments across local park competitions – and provides support to Hills Hornets Referees at NSW and National-level tournaments.
- Program Innovation: She designed and implemented a dedicated referee development program that provides structured coaching and assessment pathways.
Major Achievements & Recognition
- NSW Touch Football Awards Finalist: Her leadership was recognised at the state level when she was named a finalist for Affiliate Referee Director of the Year in 2023, 2024 and 2025.
- Development Milestones: Under her guidance, the club saw significant success at major tournaments, such as the 2021 Junior State Cup, where multiple referees achieved Level 2 upgrades and grand final appointments.
- State-Level Success: In recent 2024 and 2025 seasons, Hills referees have consistently been selected for Vawdon Cup squads and prestigious Grand Final matches, reflecting the high standard of training Lucinda facilitates.
