Referees play an integral role with all Touch Football competitions.  They ensure our game is played in a fair, safe and enjoyable environment.

There are a number of benefits for individuals who choose to be a referee:

  • Keep fit and active
  • Learn new skills
  • Build confidence
  • Make friends
  • And yes, get paid!

There are opportunities to referee in competitions run by Hills Hornets, and tournaments run by NSW Touch. Referees are allocated to games according to their experience and skill – so don’t be afraid to have a go.

If you are someone who doesn’t know much about touch football – no problem; Hills Hornets conduct introductory level one referee courses throughout the year, as well as providing ongoing coaching and support.

Further, Touch Football Australia (TFA) has recently introduced an online learning Management System (LMS) for Referees called ‘The Nest’. The Nest will be the hub where referees can go to develop their knowledge of the game, book courses and track their certifications.

The development and support now being offerred is second to none.  So if you’re new to refereeing or perhaps you’ve been a referee in another sport, there is no better time to start your journey as a Touch Football Referee.
