Frequently Asked Questions
When do registrations close?
The scheduled close date for TEAM registrations is SUNDAY AUGUST 31, but please note the following:
- In previous seasons when demand has been high, we have been forced to close off registrations earlier than expected for some divisions.
- Lead times are needed for ordering singlets (Minimum 4 weeks). Leaving registration too late may mean your singlet is not available for the first few rounds.
How many players per team?
ALL divisions require a minimum of 8 registered players to commence competition.
Teams with <8 registered players at registration close date (August 31) will be removed from the competition. If you cannot meet this minimum requirement please email the club (info@hillshornetstouch.com) for assistance with finding players.
The number of subs is always a bit of a balancing act. Too many subs can mean players don’t get long enough on the field, too few and players get too tired and lose enjoyment. Aiming for 3-4 subs per game is usually a good rule of thumb.
I want to register a team, but I'm a few players short. Can you help?
Absolutely. Send an email to parkcomp@hillshornetstouch.com with your team name once registered and the number of additional players you would like. We will allocate players from our individual player registration pool.
My friend(s) and I don't have a team but want to play together. Can you ensure we end up in the same team?
We will certainly accommodate where we can.
Once players have registered in “Find me a Team”, send an email to parkcomp@hillshornetstouch.com with player names to request same team placement.
We recommend this is done sooner than later as it does get tougher to place multiples as teams fill.
If 4 or more players are wanting to play together, we recommend registering a team and then contacting the club to request additional players be added.
I've never played touch football before, can you cater for beginners?
Absolutely. At Hills Hornets Touch we welcome everybody. Register yourself, and we will find you a team that can accommodate your experience and skill level.
You can also check out our Basics of touch page for an introduction on how the game is played. There are also some highlight videos you can watch on Hornets TV.
What do we wear?
Playing singlets are included in the cost of registration. These will be reversible, with a predominantly black side and a predominantly teal side. The draw will indicate which colour your team should be wearing week to week.
Players are to wear their preferred shorts or bike pants – whatever is comfortable.
You may like to consider purchasing a matching pair of bike pants or shorts from our Spring Comp Partner, TouchNTag. 10% of all sales will be donated to Hills Hornets Touch.
Touch or other grass sports shoes with plastic or rubber mouldings are recommended.
What time are games played?
Although dependent on team registrations, senior competition will generally commence from 7:00pm. Final timeslot is 9:00pm.
What do my fees pay for?
Spring comp 2025 fees breakdown includes:
- $22 TFA National membership & insurance (deducted from total if already paid)
- $30 NSW Touch annual membership (deducted from total if already paid)
- $33 Reversible singlet
- $40 Operational costs including field hire, referees payment, competition prizes and club equipment ($5 per game)
I need to withdraw. Can I get a refund?
If we have been unable to successfully place you into a team, a full refund will apply.
For change of mind withdrawals, a partial refund can be requested by sending an email to info@hillshornetstouch.com with player name and account details for EFT payment.
Please note that both the annual TFA membership ($22) and NSWTA membership ($30) as well as a $5 MySideline administration fee is not refundable by the club. If a playing singlet has been issued, this amount ($33) will also be deducted from the registration amount.
Refunds will not be payable after Round 3.
