The early markets have opened for the annual running of the Mens Port Summer Carnival 2008.

First race on the card kicking off at 12.50 is the Group 4 Col Crawford Time Period Stakes. This
looks like a race in two with the fancied runners Theo and Grant fighting for outright
favouritism and who could argue.
Second race is the Group 2 Rise Int White Line Steeple Chase with Phil and Sprouley on the
first line of betting with the late mover Mitch firming in the market.
Third up at 2.10 is the Delafrance Gamblers Gift. This seems to be an open race with Sprouley again
looking the goods with Grant and Timmy rounding out the top three hopes.
The fourth race on the card is the Group 2 Sinali's Finest Fine Furlong battled out over 201 metres.
Hard to go past Webby as the odds on favourite with the field second.
The feature race this year is the Group 1 Newline Building Supplies Players Players
Plate with the gates opening at 3.30. Always a traffic jam of talent lining up for the big one
with local hopes, interstate and overseas challengers fighting for the prestigious Plate, Prizemoney and
fame of the title.
