Hills Hornets exit Vawdon 2007

By Hornet News on 28.09.2007

Vawdon 2007 was a season of mixed results for the Hills Hornets after never really setting the competition alight with some inconsistent performances throughout the season. Competing in the Men's Division 2 category the Hornets were only able to snare 1 victory and 2 draws from the 9 round schedule which was a contrast to Vawdon 06.

Playing out of our home ground Bankstown the season kicked off with Liverpool in the first round going down 7-3 in a performance many would classify as rusty to say the least but the rust prooved hard to shake.

From the first 7 rounds 6 of them played at Bankstown the Hornets were only able to draw 2 games against Varsity and Taren Point who should of been easy victories and went down in the others.

The first win came in round 8 over a Parramatta team played at Doyle 3-2. Maybe it was the smell of KFC just down the road but the win was a long time coming.

The final round was against Campbelltown who were fitter and alot younger than all the Hornets players. It was a case of too good, too quick as they went on to win 8-2 in the end.

The Hornets will have an extended pre-season running into State Cup 2007 where they hope to improve of their performance in 2006 when they went down in a close one to Wests in the quarters.
