Hornets fly into Australian Team

Congratulations to Mick Sproule and Bruce Ager who have been selected to represent Australia in the upcoming Trans Tasman Masters Series to be held in Townsville in June.

Mick Sproule who has been "Mr Touch" for many years has deserved his call up to national honours through dedication and persistance. A stand out for NSW and with many NTL campaigns under his belt I'm sure Sprouley will have his named already pencilled in for World Cup 2011 in Scotland.

Bruce Ager coming off a clean sweep as NSW Assistant Coach has been named Coach of the Mens 45s team to tackle the Kiwis. I'm sure he will have his blackboard working overtime in the lead up plotting tactics to have Sprouley running riot.

We wish both all the best in the lead up to the Series as "Green and Gold" jereys will bring the best out of both competitors.

Hills Hornets Mens Rank 18 in NSW

Recently the Board of the NSWTA has been discussing a number of factors to both enhance the representative game and tighten some of the loop holes that currently exist. They also have had a keen eye to continue the development of the game at this level in relation to have a strong competition right across the board and not just conglomerated around two or three teams.

Since moving to the current points system in mid 2007, one anomaly has stood out around who was eligible to receive a marquee player. As all are aware a marquee player could be picked up by an affiliate who was not in the top four teams for that event. How the top four teams are decided upon is on the basis of the previous years overall results, taking into account the three major tournaments.

This ranking sees the Hornets Mens Open team at number 18 in NSW and gives the players a goal to better the ranking each year.

For the rankings to be determined NSWTA have used the following system;

* Country Championships (0.5pt x multiplication)
* Vawdon Cup (1pt x multiplication)
* State Cup (1.5pt multiplication)
