History of Hills Touch AssociationCastle Hill Touch has been established in 1986 and was first run at Castle Hill RSL up until around 2002 when the grounds become unavailable. The competition was run by Terry Walsh and was eventually taken over by Anthony Dudeck. After the RSL grounds were closed Hills Touch moved briefly to the Showground in a temporary move before finding a new home at Bernie Mullane Sports Complex in Kellyville. As only one ground was available Bella Vista Oval was used in conjunction until more fields were utilised at Bernie Mullane. The local competition previously run by the YMCA was handed over to Belgravia Leisure as the YMCA lost the lease of Bernie Mullane. After a 2 seasons of control and some unhappy players, the competition was once again moved to Green Up Park and taken over by members of the Hills Hornets representative team. The competition is now back in its rebuilding stage trying to get the number of teams back to what it used to be and are working closely with NSWTA in developing the region. Hills Representative Touch as been successful over the years and has claimed 3 titles, namely the Mixed Open State Cup, Mixed Open Sydney Champs and the Womens 23s Vawdon Cup titles. 2008 has seen the creation of the Hills Hornets representative team and has introduced a players committee to help foster the current and next generation of representative players coming through the region. |
